YUMMY BUT PRICEY May 06, 2007
By Felicity Christensen If you crave these like I do no expense is spared, but it might have been cheaper to drive to Canada for them. Well packaged and delicious though.

Wine Gums Mar 10, 2008
By C. Irving I enjoyed these when I was younger and was delighted to see them on Amazon. They are delicious and very chewy. I like to keep mine in the fridge!! An adult version of tastier ju-jubes.
Extremely Stale, Hard & Flavorless. Aug 26, 2010
By Kronos Let me first say that I am a fan of Maynards Wine Gums and very familiar with what to expect from Maynards. I am also familiar with ordering edible items from Amazon and have come to expect as good or better freshness then from many local shops.
I am however very very disappointed with this particular order.
The Amazon packaging was perfect as normal, however the product packaging was below poor. First the box of individual rolls was encased in a very thin and loose type of shrink wrap. Apparently this was to hold the box together rather than to provide any kind of protection for the wine gums as this outer layer was not even close to air tight. The actual box is the normal shelf display case, with the individually wrapped rolls inside. The box itself showed a lot of wear including several split corners which caused the box to fall apart once the outer plastic was removed. Inside the box the casing on many of the individual rolls was split or torn open in additional to all rolls appearing to be rather old with areas of the packaging graphics worn off. To top things off the entire package has a very noticeable chemical like smell.
As for the candy itself... from sampling one roll and feeling the rest they are all extremely hard, so far past firm that they are difficult to chew. The flavor is so dull and muted it is not even possible to tell one flavor from another without looking at its color first. Everyone that tried the wine gums found them to be overall inedible and disappointing.
There is no manufacture or expiration date on any of the packaging so I can only assume that this product was either very old or in some way mishandled. The lack of any type of air tight seal does not help freshness, but I have never had a single roll off of a display shelf that appeared even slightly stale.
I will order Maynards Wine Gums again, however it will only be in a different form that provides some type of sealed packaging to maintain freshness.
Unique and delicious Nov 29, 2008
By Lawrence Bernath I first experienced Maynards Wine Gums while visiting a friend who had brought them back from South Africa. Since the South African version is not imported to the US, I bought the English version through Amazon. It was very close if not identical to the South African variety.
